Echols County, GA Hunt Club // Need 2

Stickin' Swamp Hunt Club Overview
(More detail on everything in rules)

a) 2000 +/- acres all one block, great road system with 10 gates.
b) Went to 11 members this year. (Only 1 person is considered a member/See Guest policy below)
c) $1240 / 1st yr
d) Great, secure, campsite with water (camp generator for camp lights and bathhouse), double skinning rack, full bathhouse, pin board, shed, etc. about a mile from property (Same landowner)
e) Varied terrain. Mix of different stage pines (nothing supposed to be cut for several years), small clear cut at east end, wet areas, thickets, plenty of hardwoods.
f) 20 +/- food plots scattered throughout the property planted spring and fall.
g) 2 bucks, 3 does (or 5 does), 2 gobblers per membership.
h) Guest policy (1 hunting guest per member per trip) Member can bring family/friends (within reason) up with you to enjoy the experience however only 1 other person beside member may hunt during guest days in a separate stand. Max of 4 hunting days per non immediate family guest. This IS NOT a party all night, run all over the place at all hours on your 4 wheeler type property. Don't get me wrong, I'll have a drink or two at the end of the day but we're a pretty relaxed crowd.
i) Pin in /out. 1 personal stand (250 yard radius from stand), 1 members only stand, and 1 members/guest stand per member minimum 1st year. Stand policy is in rules. PLENTY of stand sites available with large blocks of land that have not been stepped in yet.
j) ONLY deer, bear, and turkeys may be hunted in season on primary property. Members will decide where we will set aside 150+/- acres for other/general use.
k) Don't care what state you are in but ask that you to be at least 1.5 hours from the lease. We do have one great local member that keeps an eye on things for us.
l) BEFORE ANYONE ASKS -- NO DOGS for any hunting except tracking a wounded deer if necessary.

I am looking for responsible people who want to start near the beginning to help build a long term, successful club while having fun and still having a reasonable chance to shoot a mature buck. This will be our 2nd year and we are well on our way. Just need a couple more to finish it off. We are looking for "club" folks, not "me" folks. People who not only help but actually like to help. We are there to relax and have fun, not beg people to pull their weight.

Honestly, it was a tough season and we didn't kill a lot of deer but there were several factors that contributed to that. We do have a bunch of trail cam pics so we know they're there and they'll be bigger and more of 'em next season! Best I can guess is that we have a roughly 1:3-1:4 buck to doe ratio and the best buck we have on camera looks to be high 120's low 30's. I wouldn't expect anything bigger than that although I'll not complain if we do. We did have more than 30 different bucks on camera.

The rules are definitely not for everybody but in the end, 90% are pretty much just common sense/courtesy. It'll take longer to read them then to to follow them. My primary objective here is to make sure everyone joining is on a similar page. We're not a super strict QDM club but not a shoot everything on sight either. 3 year old or better bucks preferred but club rule is you shoot it, you mount it unless its someone 16 or under or anyone 1st buck. (1 per membership)

Send me an e-mail and I'll forward you the Google earth area and rules along with my number. Look it over and then give me a call if you're still interested. kevanjones@lycos.com

Forum: Hunting

quota hunts

If I remembered the date right the quotas were set to revert back to being transferable if not approved again. It was originally stated that it to revert back in the 2012 season if not approved again. It has been a complete failure overall less people using our state lands than before.
Forum: Rules and Regulations

Bear meeting Dec. 13

For immediate release: December 12, 2011
Media contact: Karen Parker, 386-758-0525

Dec. 13 workshop to discuss bear conservation in Gainesville

A draft plan to ensure a sustainable Florida black bear population will be presented by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) at a Dec. 13 in Gainesville.

Members of the public are invited to the workshop, which will include a staff presentation on the FWC's draft bear management plan. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, speak or complete a brief survey on the plan. The workshop begins at 6 p.m. at Gainesville City Hall, 200 East University Ave.

"We encourage people interested in conserving the Florida black bear to attend this workshop on the draft bear management plan," said Dave Telesco, the FWC's bear management program coordinator. "Public involvement is essential to making this plan effective in conserving Florida's largest land mammal for future generations."

Seven bear management units (BMUs) - including the West Panhandle BMU, which includes Eglin Air Force Base, and the East Panhandle BMU, which includes Apalachicola National Forest - are proposed in the draft plan. The BMUs will allow the FWC to manage bears guided by local input and specific characteristics of both bear and human populations in those areas.

"Bear Smart Communities" also would be created in areas of high bear activity to involve residents, local governments, businesses and schools in changing people's behaviors to reduce human-bear conflicts. The U.S. Air Force's Hurlburt Field in Okaloosa County recently was recognized by the FWC for implementing bear education of residents and using bear-proof garbage cans, which have reduced calls and complaints about bears by 70 percent so far in 2011, compared with 2010.

The draft bear management plan<http://www.myfwc.com/bear> is available at MyFWC.com/Bear, where the public can comment online on the plan through Jan. 10, 2012. The draft plan and a summary of public input will go before the Commission at its February 2012 meeting, but a final decision on the plan will not take place until a later meeting.

For more information on the workshop, go to MyFWC.com/Bear.

Forum: Hunting

Guana River WMA duck blinds for disabled hunters

Persons with disabilities (PWD) have a new opportunity on Guana River Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in St. Johns County a new PWD-accessible waterfowl blind that is suitable for duck hunting or wildlife viewing.
The blind is on Booths Pond and was designed by staff from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissions (FWC) Office of Recreation Services. A paved parking spot with a concrete path leads to an elevated deck and the heavily camouflaged blind.
The blind can easily seat four hunters on the benches or at least two, maybe three hunters in wheelchairs, said Justin Ellenberger, the FWCs lead biologist on Guana River WMA.
Ellenberger said Booths Pond can be fair to good for duck hunting, depending on habitat conditions and duck numbers. Ducks that usually use the pond are teal, wood ducks and wigeon.
Use of the blind is on a first-come, first-served basis, and hunters who would like to use it will need to obtain a PWD Duck Blind Qualifying Card. For information about this card go to MyFWC.com/Hunting and select Persons with Disabilities.
Guana River WMA is a quota hunt area, but exemptions are allowed. An exempt hunter could hunt ducks from this new blind until noon during the general gun deer hunts that coincide with waterfowl season; they are Nov. 19-20 and Nov. 25-27.
During the small-game hunts, Guana River WMA is first-come, first-served for 75 hunters. Waterfowl hunts that coincide with the WMAs small-game hunts are Dec.10-11, Jan. 6-8, Jan. 13-15, Jan. 20-22 and Jan. 27-29.
For more on rules pertaining to Guana River WMA, go to MyFWC.com/Hunting and select WMA Brochures and then look under Northeast.
Forum: Hunting

A draft plan to ensure a sustainable Florida black bear population will be presented by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) at a Nov. 22 public workshop in Bristol.
Members of the public from throughout the Panhandle are invited to the workshop, which will include a staff presentation on the FWCs draft bear management plan.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, speak or complete a brief survey on the plan. Participants can attend whichever is most convenient.
The meetings in Crystal River will be at the Crystal River Preserve State Park, 3266 North Sailboat Ave. The Oct. 20 session is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., and the Oct. 21 session is from 9 a.m. to noon.
The meetings in Perry will be at the UF-IFAS Taylor County Extension, 203 Forest Park Drive. The Oct. 24 session is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., while the Oct. 25 session is from 9 a.m. to noon.
Attendees are asked to register online in advance of the meetings by going to MyFWC.com/Conservation and selecting Coastal Wildlife under Special Initiatives.
FWC staff will present an overview of the initiative and its partnership strategy and ask attendees to identify pressing coastal conservation issues in their area. Staff will discuss gaps in research, education, management and regulation that stand in the way of resolving those issues.
The CWCIs vision is to ensure the long-term conservation of native wildlife in balance with human activities in coastal ecosystems throughout Florida, said Blair Hayman, Coastal Wildlife Conservation Initiative coordinator.
There are critical, immediate, as well as long-standing coastal wildlife conservation issues that could be addressed more effectively through the cooperative efforts of a partnership rather than by individual agencies or entities, she said.
For more information on the Coastal Wildlife Conservation Initiative visit MyFWC.com/Conservation or contact Blair Hayman, at 386-758-0525 or Blair.Hayman@MyFWC.com.

Forum: Saltwater Fishing
